history
The bank was founded in 1885 as the «Sparverein Balsthal-Klus». In 1975 the savings association was merged with the local loan office to form the “Bank in Balsthal”. In 1979 the bank , which was then still organized in the form of a cooperative , was converted into a stock corporation.
In 1994 the merger with «Sparkasse Laupersdorf» and «Sparkasse Matzendorf» followed to form «Bank im Thal», which was joined in 1995 by «Sparverein Holderbank» and in 1998 by «Sparverein" Biene "Mümliswil AG". In 2000 the subsidiary "Immag Balsthal", which specializes in real estate, was integrated. In 2007 the “Clientis” umbrella brand was included in the name and the institute was renamed “Clientis Bank im Thal AG”.
