Clumping factor
In clumping factors are proteins. A distinction is made between two clumping factors encoded by different genes, which as virulence factors play a role in infections with Staphylococcus aureus :
- Clumping factor A , a fibrinogen receptor
- Clumping factor B , also called Panton-Valentine leukocidine , a pore-forming protein of certain Staphylococcus aureus strains
