The CoCreate Software GmbH was a software company focused on the development of CAD programs for the electronics industry and the mechanical engineering specialized. CoCreate was considered a pioneer for software solutions for web-based collaboration in product development.
history
In 1992, CoCreate began as a division of Hewlett-Packard with the development of 2D and 3D CAD systems. The 2D CAD system, which started under the name ME10 , is used in mechanical engineering.
Data management products, which were supposed to support customers in complex development tasks, played a special role in CoCreate's product portfolio. Cocreate was considered a pioneer for programs for internet-based collaboration in product development ( Collaboration , Collaborative Product Design (CPD) ).
The modeling approach in the 3D CAD product OneSpace Modeling was based on so-called dynamic modeling. This should enable CAD models to be created and modified much more easily than with other systems.
In the mid-1990s, CoCreate became a 100% subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard. In 2000, CoCreate separated from its parent company and became an independent company.
In 2000 the financial investors 3i and Triton bought CoCreate.
CoCreate was represented in 30 countries and had more than 300 employees worldwide. The development centers were located in Sindelfingen , Germany and Fort Collins , Colorado, USA.
In mid-2006, CoCreate was taken over by the investor HBK Investments . The investor sold the company to PTC on December 3, 2007 for $ 250 million .

In addition to the CAD system OneSpace Modeling , CoCreate also sold the PDM System Model Manager .
