Coalition for Better Ads

Coalition for Better Ads is the name of an organization whose goal is the creation of standards for the use of advertising materials in Internet advertising . A large number of internet groups and professional associations from the advertising industry are represented in the merger.

The organization gained importance in February 2018 when Google equipped its Chrome web browser with an ad blocker . The new filter is switched on by default and filters out advertisements that contradict the guidelines of the Coalition for Better Ads. These are particularly annoying advertising formats that are available on around 1 percent of the websites.

The organization was founded in September 2016. The founding members include u. a. the Network Advertising Initiative . In the meantime, many Internet companies and industry associations have joined. The members include a. the Axel-Springer-Verlag , the Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft , criteo , Facebook , Google , Microsoft , The Washington Post and Reuters .
