Incidents

On September 5, 2017, the second prototype of the Cobalt Co50 (registration number N523CA, serial number PX-04) crashed during a test flight at Castle Airport after problems with the aileron control occurred shortly after take-off. The pilot attempted to land the aircraft using only the thrust and rudder, hitting the runway from about 10 ft (3 m) above the ground. The right main landing gear tore from the machine and the wing structure was severely damaged. The pilot was unharmed.
