Cobaltore Onagawa ( Japanese コ バ ル ト ー レ 女 川 Kobarutōre Onagawa ) is a Japanese football club from the small town of Onagawa in Miyagi Prefecture . He played in 2018 in the Japan Football League , current league is the Tōhoku - Regional .
history
Cobaltore Onagawa was founded in April 2006 with the aim of strengthening cohesion in the small town. The first coach of the new club was former Japanese international Nobuo Fujishima . As early as 2008, Cobaltore reached Division 2 of the Tōhoku - Regionalliga , two years later he was promoted to the Regionalliga Oberhaus for the first time.
The year 2011 brought the first turning point in the existence of the still young club in the form of the Tōhoku earthquake . Onagawa is located directly on the coast of the Pacific Ocean and was accordingly hit hard by the tsunami that followed the earthquake . Even if none of the players was injured or killed by the forces of nature, the club home did not survive the tidal wave. Since the home stadium was subsequently also used as emergency accommodation, regular match operations for the rest of the year were out of the question.
Not least because of the commitment of players and fans, Cobaltore returned to the lawn in 2012. The new beginning turned out to be surprisingly successful with a second place in Division 2 of the Regionalliga, and since Fukushima United FC from Division 1 of the Regionalliga was promoted to the Japan Football League , the club found itself back in the top in the 2013 season regional league.
After a transition year in which there was a consolidation in the midfield, Cobaltore Onagawa played consistently in the top group of the league from 2014. Championship wins and the associated qualification for the national regional league final round followed in 2016 and 2017. If the team failed in the preliminary round in 2016, the final round was reached in 2017 and won it even before fellow promoted Tegevajaro Miyazaki . However , Cobaltore ended the 2018 season bottom of the table and promptly returned to the Tōhoku regional league.
Club name
As is usual with many Japanese football clubs, the club name is a suitcase word made up of several words, mostly borrowed from European languages. Two Spanish terms were the inspiration for cobaltore: cobalto refers to the blue color of the sea off Onagawa, floresta to the forests in the area.
