Cochi e Renato

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cochi e Renato is an Italian comedian and musician duo consisting of Renato Pozzetto  and Cochi Ponzoni  .

Career

Ponzoni and Pozzetto were friends even as children and often performed together in front of friends and relatives when they were young. They had their first public appearance in 1965 at Club Cab 64 in Milan , where they took  the stage with Lino Toffolo and Bruno Lauzi . When  Enzo Jannacci  and Felice Andreasi  joined them, they founded the Ensemble Motore , which made a name for itself in Milan. In the late 1960s, Rai's entertainment programs helped the duo Cochi e Renato to success, such as  Quelli della domenica (1968) and È domenica, ma senza impegno (1969). Equipped with a special comedy, characterized by paradoxical and surreal tendencies, the duo's fame rose in the early 1970s through the television show  Il poeta e il contadino and the moderation of the Canzonissima music competition  . In 1974 Pozzetto began to devote himself more to his film career. After a long break, Cochi e Renato reunited in the 2000s for a number of television and theater projects.

The duo were also very active musically (often in collaboration with Enzo Jannacci) and had several hits. The most famous song is E la vita, la vita , which reached number one on the Italian charts in 1974.
