Codeon is a Finnish melodic death and thrash metal band from Helsinki that was formed in 2002.

history

The band was founded in October 2002 by guitarist Sami Raatikainen and bassist Lauri Mailasalo. In March 2003 a permanent cast was fixed. However, some members left the band soon, until the summer of 2003, when singer Vesa Mattila and drummer Mats Lindeqvist joined the band and a permanent line-up was formed. In August the band recorded a first demo, which was released shortly afterwards. After the release, the band continued to write new material. The first appearances followed in May 2004 and she worked on songs for an EP. Before the band went into the studio, Asko Sartanen came back as a second guitarist. In winter 2004/2005 the band sent the recorded songs to various labels. In 2005 the band took part in the Finnish Metal Expo , where they reached the finals. During the rest of the year the group released the EP On My Side and played concerts promoting the EP. As a result, she reached a contract with Dies Irae Records in October 2005 . In the same year the EP was released on this label. The songs for the debut album were ready in early 2006. Due to various delays, the entire recording process took two years. Meanwhile Sami Raatikainen was playing with Necrophagist . In 2007, Stay Heavy Records took over Dies Irae Records, so the band was now led on this label. In 2008 the debut album Source was released .

style

The band plays technically demanding Melodic Death Metal mixed with Thrash Metal.
