Coelotilapia joka ( Syn .: Tilapia joka ) is an African species of cichlid that occurs in the lower reaches of the rivers of Sierra Leone and western Liberia .

features

Coelotilapia joka becomes a maximum of 9.6 cm long, has a typical cichlid shape and a rounded head profile. There are 7 to 8 dark bands on the sides of the body, which are wider than the light spaces between them. A tilapia spot on the dorsal fin is missing. The pelvic fins are pointed. The teeth of the outer rows in both jaws are two-pointed, the teeth of the inner rows are smaller and three-pointed. The lower pharyngealia are as long as they are wide and have grown together with the fifth ceratobranchial (lower pharyngeal jaw). The toothless front section of the pharyngealia is shorter or as long as the dentate area. The pharynx teeth are two- and three-pointed. On the first gill arch there are 8 to 11 gill trap rays . Micro-gill rakes are missing. The scales are cycloid .
