Cohors XX Palmyrenorum

The Cohors XX Palmyrenorum ("20th cohort of the Palmyrenians") was an auxiliary unit , a cohors equitata milliaria (partially mounted, thousand-man cohort), of the Roman military , which was originally set up from residents of the city of Palmyra .

As cohors equitata , the Cohors XX Palmyrenorum consisted of a mixed unit of ten centuries of infantry and eight turmae cavalry, a total of about 1000 men. It was erected in the late second century when Palmyra became part of the Roman Empire .

The Cohors XX Palmyrenorum served in Dacia in the late second century before being stationed in Dura Europos in the late second century .
