The Association Guillaume Budé is a cultural association and a learned society with a focus on the field of classical philology . It was founded in 1917 by the French philologists Maurice Croiset , Paul Mazon , Louis Bodin and Alfred Ernout with the aim of making the legacy of antiquity known to a wide audience and to publish it in scientific publications. It was named after the humanist and first important translator of ancient texts into the French language Guillaume Budé .

The publication series includes the renowned Collection des Universités de France , a collection of text-critical editions by Greek and Latin writers including a French translation and explanatory notes, which today comprises almost 750 titles. Other series are the Collection d'Études Anciennes , the Collection byzantine , the Auteurs Latins du Moyen-Âge and Les Classiques de l'Humanisme .
