The new building of the CHB (2019)

The Collegium Hungaricum Berlin (CHB) has been promoting cultural and scientific exchange between Hungary and Germany since 1924 as part of the network of Hungarian cultural institutes worldwide .

Originally founded to promote the exchange between Hungarian and German scientists, the institute filled an important niche in the intellectual scene in East Berlin between 1973 and 1990 as the House of Hungarian Culture . Renamed House Hungary after the fall of the Wall , the institute has had its original name since 2000. Today, the CHB is active in both the cultural and scientific fields. The cooperation with Hungarian, German and international institutions plays a decisive role in its programming. The focus is on interdisciplinary projects as well as current productions from the fields of film , literature and translation , visual arts , music and performance .

In 2007, the CHB moved into a striking new building at its original location in the immediate vicinity of Museum Island and the Humboldt University . The cultural scientist Márta Nagy has headed the CHB since October 2018.
