.44 Magnum Colt Anaconda

The Colt Anaconda is a revolver from the Colt brand . It has a double-action trigger and was offered in calibers .44 Magnum and .45 Colt . The target group are hunters and sport shooters. The .44 Magnum revolver was introduced in 1990 and the .45 Colt was added in 1993. In 1999 there was a two-year production stop; From 2001 to 2003 the Anaconda was only built as a .44 Magnum until production finally ended. The design is similar to the .357 Colt Python and is based on the .357 Colt Trooper, but the chamber is designed for stronger cartridges. The Anaconda revolver was developed to compete with the Smith and Wesson Model 29 revolver . The Anaconda holds six cartridges and is available with a four, six, or eight inch barrel.

The Anaconda revolver is a relatively comfortable handgun to fire this heavy caliber because of its handle design and heavy, ventilated barrel, especially when compared to single-action weapons of the same caliber.

A variant of the Anaconda was the Colt Kodiak, which was made of stainless steel and was also a .44 caliber magnum revolver.
