The Columbia Shipmanagement Limited (CSM) is a 1978 based shipping company based in Limassol . CSM is part of Schoeller Holdings and is one of the world's leading companies in technical ship management.

Companies

Columbia Shipmanagement deals with the technical and operational ship management , the management of own ships and on behalf of third parties. In addition, CSM operates chartering and manning services, the emission of ship and real estate holdings and takes over construction supervision for new ships. In addition to the head office and other branches in Limassol, offices are located in Hamburg, Singapore, Shanghai and Athens. In May 2019 around 300 ships, including 78 own, will be looked after and around 15,000 employees will be employed on land and on the ships.

history

In 1978, the the family of entrepreneurs Schoeller belonging Heinrich Schoeller, who previously in the Hamburg shipping company F. Christian Ahrenkiel had been working under the umbrella holding company Schoeller Holdings Ltd. established his own shipping company in Cyprus and began operating the first ships in 1979. In 1981 around 50 ships and in 1986 100 units were looked after.

In the course of the shipping crisis that began in 2008, the company got into financial difficulties and in 2017 a merger with the crewing company Marlow Navigation , founded by Hermann Eden in Limassol in 1982, was started, which could not be implemented adequately at first.
