The  Columbus Thunderbolts  were an  arena football team based in  Columbus, Ohio that played in the  Arena Football League  (AFL). In 1992 the franchise moved from Columbus to Cleveland and played as the  Cleveland Thunderbolts .

Columbus Thunderbolts

The Thunderbolts were founded in 1991 and started playing in the AFL. After just a year, the Columbus franchise moved to Cleveland . After three more years as the Cleveland Thunderbolts, the franchise dissolved.

In Columbus, the franchise played in the Taft Coliseum , which holds around 5,000 spectators . In their only season, the playoffs were clearly missed when they could not achieve a single win in the entire season.

Cleveland Thunderbolts

For the 1992 season, the franchise moved to Cleveland and played as the Cleveland Thunderbolts. They played their home games in the Richfield Coliseum  , a former multi-purpose arena with 18,544 seats. In their three seasons in Cleveland, the Thunderbolts made it into the playoffs once, but failed there in the first round.
