Columnata

Columnata was an ancient city in the Roman province of Mauretania Caesariensis . It was conquered by the Romans in AD 30 . Augustus founded a colony in which mainly veterans of the Legio II Augusta were settled. It became an agricultural center.

The excavation site is located in the modern town of Khemisti in the Algerian province of Tissemsilt .

Columnata is now a titular bishopric (see titular bishopric Columnata ).
