Comisión General de Reclamaciones entre México y los Estados Unidos
The Comisión general de reclamaciones entre México y los Estados Unidos de América , English: General claims commission: United States and Mexico , was a bilateral international arbitration tribunal of the governments of the United States of America and the United States of Mexico .
The legal basis was the General Claims Convention , an agreement dated September 8, 1923, with which the procedure for clarifying financial claims from legal entities of one state to the government of the other state was established.
With the Special Claims Convention , which was agreed on September 10, 1923 , the basis for the Special Claims Commission was agreed, which should decide on priority claims of legal persons from the USA, which were caused by the Mexican Revolution .
The convention was ratified by the Mexican Parliament on February 1, 1924. The ratification documents were exchanged on March 1, 1924. The arbitral tribunal was composed of three judges and met for the first time in August 1924 and made its final decision in November 1941. The arbitral tribunal decided on additions, complaints and claims dated between July 4, 1868 and October 7, 1940. The rulings oblige the Mexican government to pay US $ 40 million . The causes of the claims were mainly confiscations and property damage, expropriations of agricultural land, bank debts and breaches of contract.
