The Spanish Comisión Nacional de la Competencia ( CNC ; German  " National Commission for Competition " ) based in Madrid is the Spanish competition authority , which has existed in its current form since 2007. The authority was created by law of August 4, 2008 (15/2007 de Defensa de la Competencia) as an independent competition authority.

The current president of the agency is Joaquín García Bernaldo de Quirós .

The Spanish Competition Authority (CNC) imposed a fine of 54 million euros in February 2012 on a lawsuit filed by the Ibiza island government in 2010 . The penalty was imposed for the formation of a cartel and thus illegal price fixing against five ferry companies that connect the Balearic Islands with the mainland and the islands with each other. The illegal price fixing applies to the entire maritime transport sector, freight and passenger transport. Among the five shipping companies are the Baleària , the Trasmediterránea and the Isleña Marítima de Contenedores (Iscomar). The highest penalty concerns the Trasmediterránea (Acciona Trasmediterránea) with 36 million euros, followed by the Baleària with 15.9 million euros.

In 2013 the CNC was integrated into the Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) authority.
