A Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle (German: commercial utility and freight vehicle; short CUCV ; pronunciation: Cuck-Vee) is a vehicle that was sold between 1983 and 1986 by the United States Army in approx. 70,000 units as part of the army renewal has been procured.

The Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle is based on the Chevrolet K model series as an off-road vehicle (M 1009), which is called Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in the USA , and the pickup (M 1008). It was used for military purposes with rifle mounts behind the front seats, four eyelets for hanging on cranes or helicopters, a heavy protective grille in front of the radiator grille, a powerful trailer hitch, column marshals in the bumpers, night march lights in the radiator grille, 12 V / 24 V electrical system (with Only the starter and (via resistors) the glow plugs are supplied with 24 V, various control instruments and sockets (jump start box in the radiator grille). The vehicle is also equipped with two starter batteries (2 × 12 V = 24 V) and two alternators. All consumers (except for the starter and preheating device) are supplied with 12 V.

The interior is very spartan with seats made of dark red polyvinyl chloride and simple rubber mats. The CUCV was delivered with two or four doors. It serves as a replacement for Jeeps and also the Dodge W 200 (M 880) and is still in use today, mostly in reserve units. The CUCV was available as:

  • M 1008 basic type pick-up, 1 1/4 ton
  • M 1008 A1 like M 1008, but with brackets f. Radio antennas, 1 1/4 ton
  • M 1009 like blazer, closed body (SUV) for passenger transport, ¾ ton
  • M 1010 ambulance, 1 1/4 ton
  • M 1028 for shelter transport, 1 1/4 ton
  • M 1028 A1 like M 1028, but with PTO ( Power Take-Off ) power transmission, 1 1/4 ton
  • M 1031 chassis only, e.g. B. for welding equipment, 1 1/4 ton
