Common Information Model

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Common Information Model ( CIM ) is a standard developed and adopted by the Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) for the management of IT systems. It should above all make it possible for distributed applications to provide a uniform, provider- and platform-independent management interface . It deals with network, system and application management. CIM provides a data model in Managed Object Format (MOF) to describe the management information and functions in a software system. It is not tied to any implementation. The first version of the CIM scheme appeared on April 9, 1997 . The current "stable" version of the CIM schema v2.23.0 was published on October 22, 2009. CIM is the information model of Web Based Enterprise Management (WBEM).
