The Compacta is a sans serif font from 1963. The font was designed by the typographers Fred Lambert for the British company Letraset designed.

Origin and use

The Compacta was Letraset's first self-designed typeface. Its design is largely influenced by the old British advertising posters of the 1920s and 1930s. With the Compacta it is possible to put a lot of text for headings in a limited space.

Classification of the script

Hans Peter Willberg would classify it as static grotesque in his classification matrix.
