Haettenschweiler

The Haettenschweiler is a sans serif font .

Origin and use

The Haettenschweiler was designed in 1954 on the basis of the slim, fat grotesque by Walter Haettenschweiler and Armin Haab. The thin, bold grotesque was originally used for the book Lettera . This new, narrow and very bold font subsequently found many imitators and had a decisive influence on the design of the font. A similar variant called Helvetica Advertisement was drawn from Helvetica (font) . The Impact (font) also has a comparable design approach. Photoscript designed other versions of the slim, bold grotesque , which were sold under the name Haettenschweiler in honor of Walter Haettenschweiler . Under this name the font became known worldwide.

The font is used by the French magazine Paris Match for headlines and by the British football club Nottingham Forest - slightly modified - in its logo. Microsoft used them for Microsoft Office .
