Tiffany Hearn

Tiffany Hearn (born January 15, 1984 ) is an American boxer . She won a bronze heavyweight medal at the 2008 World Boxing Championships .

Career

Tiffany Hearn is from Louisville , Kentucky . She played volleyball , basketball, and athletics as a hobby during her high school and college years . To lose weight, she started boxing with a friend in 2007. She joined the boxing club Louisville Legends . It was there that one of the coaches, James Doolin, recognized her talent for this sport and prompted her to take part in competitive training. In 2008 she became the American heavyweight amateur boxer champion. She won over Nikki Cane (18: 3) and Denise Rico (22:10) on points. In the same year she started at the World Championships in Ningbo / China . There she won the heavyweight division over Sylwia Kusiak from Poland on points (12: 2), but lost in the semifinals to Semsi Yarali from Turkey . After just over a year of training, she won a bronze medal at the World Championships .

In 2009, Tiffany Hearn lost in the US American light heavyweight championship in the semifinals against Tylor Lord-Wilder on points (5:10) and therefore "only" took 3rd place. In 2010 she was again US champion, but this time in the middleweight division . On the way to this success she beat Contessia Cook (20:13), Alyssa Defazio (7: 4) and Lisbeth Hearn (9: 2) on points. At the 2010 World Cup in Bridgeport ( Barbados ) she came in the middleweight division to a point win over Megan Maka from New Zealand (7: 6), but was defeated in the round of 16 against Nouchka Fontijn from the Netherlands and only reached 9th place.

In 2012 women's boxing became Olympic for the first time, but only in three weight classes. The middleweight was one of them. Tiffany Hearn attempted to qualify for these games in Spokane in February 2012. She defeated Tiffanie Ward on points (18:17) in her first fight. According to the extraordinary regulations, she was able to continue boxing, but lost in her next fights against Chatiqua Hemingway (15:19) and Franchon Crews (26:27) on points, with which she was eliminated and took 5th place.

In 2013 she won the points in the final over Dara Shen (3-0 RS) American light heavyweight champion. She then competed at the Pan American Championship this year in Puerto la Cruz / Venezuela, where she won the light heavyweight title with wins over Chimere Taylor, Trinidad (21: 5) and Maude Bergeron, Canada (19: 6).
