Compagnia d'Opera Italiana di Milano
The Compagnia d'Opera Italiana di Milano is an Italian theater group , the performances take place exclusively on tours.
history
The group was founded in 1948 by Piedro Holborn and Hans Schlote. In 1993 Joachim Schlote succeeded his father. The Compagnia d'Opera Italiana di Milano is a privately owned company and does not receive any subsidies. It has set itself the task of taking care of the spread and popularization of the Italian bel canto repertoire. Here special emphasis is placed on the operas by Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini .
The Compagnia holds an annual audition in Milan in order to put together an ensemble for the current production, which has to be recruited from season to season. The musical rehearsals then take place in Italy before the scenic work begins. The ensemble appears under this name exclusively on guest appearances, mainly in cities that do not have their own opera ensemble.
The production Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini was awarded the Music Theater Prize of the 2004/05 season by the members of the community of interests of the cities with theater guest performances INTHEGA and La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi with the Music Theater Prize of the 2007/08 season.
