ConBulk ship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Conbulk ship (from the English Con tainer Bulk ), also briefly Conbulker is a type of ship, with the same container and bulk cargo can be transported mixed loading.

details

In terms of shipbuilding, ConBulk ships are a subtype of the open multi-purpose bulk cargo carrier and, in terms of operation, a kind of hybrid between full container ships and bulk carriers . The hull shape of conbulkers is generally more complete , the cargo hold volume is larger in relation to the size of the ship, and the propulsion system is designed for lower speeds than pure container ships. Due to the greater flexibility required, the box-shaped cargo holds have no substructure , but only a few ships are equipped with cell guides for the transport of containers . Conbulkers usually have either cranes or gantry cranes to handle cargo .

Typical conbulker cargoes are made up of bulk goods, containers, project cargoes and various bulk cargo, for example forest products such as wood, cellulose or paper and steel products. Some of the ships are used on fixed routes, often with unpaired cargo volumes, but the majority of the ships are usually employed in tramp shipping .
