Concanen Films Ltd. was a London- based British film production company that mainly produced a number of war documentaries , but also a number of feature films.

Foundation and success

The production company was founded in 1940 by the British actor and film producer Derrick De Marney (1906–1978) and his brother Terence De Marney (1908–1971), who also worked as an actor. Alfred Concanen, the brothers' grandfather, was a famous Victorian lithographer.

The short documentary film The White Eagle , produced by Concanen in 1942, was nominated for an Oscar in the “Best Documentary” category at the 1943 Academy Awards, but had to take precedence over the productions Battle of Midway , Kokoda Front Line! , Moscow Strikes Back and Prelude to War .

Another well-known film by Concanen was the documentary used often in newsreels diary of a Polish airman ( Diary of a Polish Airman , 1942), produced by Concanen.
