Concepción Rodríguez

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

José Concepción Rodríguez is a former Mexican soccer player who started his career at Club León in 1976 and moved to Club Deportivo Guadalajara in 1984 . There the player, also known by his nickname “Concho”, ended his active career in 1990.

Career

As a versatile attacking player, Concepción Rodríguez could be used in any position in the attack line. Even with the ball on his foot, he showed great agility and had excellent dribbling skills . In addition, he had a very good eye for goals. In his first season with Guadalajara (1984/85) he was the club's most successful goalscorer.

His international debut was Concho Rodríguez on February 10, 1981 against South Korea , which the Mexican national team won 4-0. Despite his successful debut (Rodríguez had already scored the important 1-0 in the 14th minute), he was no longer appointed to the national team in the next six years. It was only in August 1987 that he made another three international appearances. As little consolation for the rare opportunity to pull on the national jersey, he may be left with the fact that Mexico never left the field as a loser with him on the field. His personal international match record: three wins and one draw (against Argentina).
