Concordenhaus
The Concordenhaus is a monument in the old town of Bremen . It is located in the Schnoorviertel , the only old town quarter with predominantly historical buildings, and has been a listed building since 1973. The building got its name from its owner, the non-beating student association Technische Vereinigung Concordia , which acquired the house after the destruction of the Second World War in 1951 and rebuilt it mainly in the work of its 100 members. There is a restaurant on the ground floor and rooms of different sizes for events on the upper floors.
Building history
The building was originally built around 1630 in the Renaissance style with an external brickwork and the entrance portal and some sections made of sandstone. After the destruction in the Second World War, it was the first house in the historic old town to be rebuilt in terms of monument protection .
The house in its current state was inaugurated in 1953. The large hall on the first floor with exhibits from the history of the student associations is worth seeing. It was created in the course of a renovation, when the ceiling between the first and second floors was removed and the facade was also changed.
The house has two entrances: One from Hinter der Holzpforte street (east side), the other from Wüstestätte street (west side). On the wall to the left of the entrance on the east side there is a mark of the historical high water level from March 13, 1881.
