from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Concordius († 175? In Spoleto ) was a Christian martyr and saint .

Concordius was a subdeacon from Rome who is said to have fled the city due to the persecution of Christians at the time of Emperor Marcus Aurelius - in fact, there is no record of the persecution of Christians under this emperor. Concordius was then captured by Torquatus, the governor of Umbria in Spoleto, because he had refused to sacrifice to the Roman gods. Concordius was then beheaded.

Concordius is venerated as a saint. His feast day is January 1st . Later his bones are said to have been transferred to Girona in Spain; this translation is celebrated on July 4th .
