Confédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Auteurs et Compositeurs
The Confédération Internationale des Sociétés d´Auteurs et Compositeurs (CISAC; International Association of Societies of Writers and Composers ) is an international umbrella organization of collecting societies based in Neuilly-sur-Seine .
history
CISAC was founded in Paris in 1926. The first annual conferences then took place in Rome, Madrid, Budapest, London, Vienna, Copenhagen, Warsaw, Seville and Berlin. 52 organizations from 29 countries took part in the 13th conference in Stockholm in 1938.
In 1994, the member companies received royalties and fees of around five billion US dollars. In June 2018 it comprised 238 member organizations in 121 countries around three million authors ( creators ) and publishers ( publishers represented) in the fields of music, literature, film and visual arts. The total of royalties and fees in 2009 was over $ 7 billion, the year-over-year increase was 1.7%.
Björn Ulvaeus was elected President of CISAC on May 29, 2020 . He took over the office from his predecessor Jean-Michel Jarre .
