The Confederation of European Data Protection Organizations (CEDPO) is a European umbrella organization of data protection organizations .

Data protection umbrella organization

The Confederation of European Data Protection Organizations (CEDPO) was founded in September 2011 by national data protection organizations as a European umbrella organization. It is - currently - an association without an explicit legal form. CEDPO aims to establish contacts with European institutions and to promote the role of the company data protection officer and the harmonization of data protection regulations within the European Economic Area (EEA) and the European Union . In addition, CEDPO advocates sensible, justifiable and technically feasible data protection (“reasonable, practicable, balanced and effective data protection”).

Founding members

The four founding members of CEDPO are the Association Française des Correspondants à la Protection des Données à Caractère Personnel (AFCDP) from France, the Asociación Profesional Española de Privacidad (APEP) from Spain, the Society for Data Protection and Data Security (GDD) eV from Germany and the Nederlands Genootschap van Functionarissen voor de Gegevensbescherming (NGFG) from the Netherlands.
