Confusion Island is a 300 m long island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located on the west side of the entrance to Clowes Bay off the south coast of Signy Island .
In 1933, participants in the British Discovery Investigations mapped the southern cape of the island and named it Confusion Point . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee transferred the designation to the entire island in 1974. The naming background has not survived.
