Juana María de la Concepción Méndez Guzmán (born April 11, 1898 in Caracas , † November 26, 1979 in Miami ) was a Venezuelan actress, painter and caricaturist, writer and composer and founder of the Movimiento de Metafísica Cristiana .

Conny Méndez was the daughter of the writer and poet Eugenio Méndez y Mendoza . She attended the Colegio Católico Alemán and the Colegio San José de Tarbes in Caracas and continued her education at the Colegio Sagrado Corazón and the Manhattan College of New York . She then studied sculpture in the Art Students League and music at the New York School of Music . She then worked as a journalist for the magazine Nos-Otras , and later as an editor for Elite .

For several years she worked as a producer, director and actress in theater productions in the Caracas Theater Club , the Caracas Little Theater and the Teatro Hispano del Theater Club for the benefit of the International Red Cross. She had already started composing as a child. Her first songs, for which she also wrote the lyrics herself, were La niña luna and Soñé . Both were successfully performed in New York in 1935 by Isabel Hermoso de Pérez Dupuy . On the four hundredth anniversary of Caracas in 1967, the album A mi Caracas was released , on which she sang herself and accompanied herself on the guitar. She also went on concert tours to Caracas, New York, Río de Janeiro, London, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Asunción, Lima and Madrid. Her compositions also include an oratorio based on her own texts.

Between 1923 and 1950 Méndez also worked as a cartoonist and published the book Bisturí in Paris in 1931 . Later she also turned to painting. In 1968 an exhibition of her paintings and caricatures took place in the El Muro gallery .
