The icy Constellation Dome is 1330 m high, the highest point of the Darley Hills in the Churchill Mountains of the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It rises 8 km west of Gentile Point between the Ross Ice Shelf in the east and the Nursery Glacier to the west .
The northern group of the 1960 to 1961 campaign as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition named it so because it served as the first fixed point to observe the star constellation .
