The Cone Nebula is a dark cloud in the unicorn constellation . The dark cloud belongs to the star formation region NGC 2264 . It was named after its shape.
Sometimes the entire emission nebula in the area of NGC 2264 is referred to as the cone nebula.
Photo of the Spitzer Space Telescope ; in the infrared range the cloud appears bright.
