The Conzzeta AG is an internationally active Swiss industrial group with a broad diversification and listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange . Its activities are in the fields of mechanical engineering, sporting goods, foams , graphic coatings and plant engineering.

history

The company was founded in 1912 by Jacob Schmidheiny , a member of the 2nd generation of the Schmidheiny family dynasty , through the merger of five brick factories as Zürcher Ziegeleien . Diversification into other industries began in the late 1930s.

With the takeover of the Fritz Nauer Group (now FoamPartner), which is active in the foam business, in 1980 and Arova Lenzburg AG, which is active in the rope and sporting goods business (now Mammut Sports Group AG) in 1982, the Zurich brickworks began their diversification process.

In 1987 the company entered the building paint business with the takeover of Schmid Rhyner AG and expanded this area in 1988 with the takeover of Siegfried Keller AG and Roth & Cie. AG.

In 1992 the company took over Reisgies Schaumstoffe GmbH and founded ZZ Immobilien AG (later renamed Plazza Immobilien). In the same year, the Zürcher Ziegeleien set up a holding structure due to the now highly diversified business areas.

In 1993, Toko AG, which specializes in ski wax and care products, was taken over. With the takeover of the Bystronic Group in 1994, Zürcher Ziegeleien Holding entered mechanical and plant engineering and expanded this division in 1997 with the takeover of Hämmerle AG.

With the sale of the brickworks and concrete goods stores in western Switzerland in 1996 and 1997, the exit from the original core business of the Zurich brickworks began. The company then changed its corporate name from Z ürcher Z iegeleien Holding to ZZ Holding AG. The complete withdrawal from the brick making business took place in 1999 through the sale of the brickwork products, insulation materials and chimneys. The ZZ Holding was then changed to the current company name Conzzeta AG.

Conzzeta subsequently broadened its business base through further acquisitions and sold areas that were not part of the core business .

The acquisitions include Robert Seckler AG (2000), which specializes in handling systems, the sporting goods distributor Climb High Inc. (USA) and the Norwegian sleeping bag manufacturer Ajungilak ASA (2001), the machine manufacturer AFM Fabtek and the Beyeler Group (2002), the machine manufacturer Armatec Vierhaus GmbH, the packaging manufacturer Büttikofer AG and the shoe brand Raichle (2003), the sales companies Pullmax Ltd UK and Pullmax Scandinavia AB through Bystronic (2005), the North American automation company Cox Automation Systems, LLC (2006) and the Asian automation company Excel Precision Sdn. Bhd. (2006).

The companies or business activities sold include Hard AG and the stake in Marmoran AG, which specializes in building products (2002), as well as the building paints business (SWISS LACK Group), the business activities of PREBETON SA and the business activities of Siegfried Keller AG (2006).

In 2008, the specialized foam processor Kureta GmbH & Co. KG in Germany was taken over by FoamPartner.

For the 100th anniversary in 2012, the book was created with the title “Letting go and tackling - one hundred years of change and innovation. From the Zurich brickworks to Conzzeta. ”It documents the company's history with pictures from partly private collections.

In 2014 FoamPartner took over the acoustic specialist Benien, a developer and supplier of acoustically and thermally effective components. FoamPartner thus expanded the portfolio of the technical foams strategic business unit.

In the same year, Conzzeta divested the Automation division.

In 2015, Conzzeta spun off the real estate division. PLAZZA AG, newly founded for this purpose, is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange.

In 2017 Conzzeta took over the foam manufacturer Otto Bock Kunststoff from Duderstadt and integrated it into the FoamPartner business unit.

At the beginning of 2019, Bystronic glass was taken over by Glaston .

In December 2019, the intention was announced to dispose of the sporting goods, foams and graphic coatings divisions in order to concentrate exclusively on sheet metal processing.
