The Cooperative Mensch eG (formerly Spastikerhilfe Berlin eG) is an independent provider of Berliner Disabled Aid, which, as a cooperative based in Berlin , operates facilities in which people with cerebral movement disorders as well as physical and multiple disabilities are cared for.
History and tasks
Spastikerhilfe was founded as a registered association in West Berlin in 1958 by parents, relatives and friends of children with complex disabilities and a high need for support , which subsequently opened several residential facilities and day care centers. In 1990, Spastikerhilfe Berlin eG was founded to support all existing facilities; The cooperative was renamed in 2018 and has since acted as Cooperative Mensch eG.
The cooperative operates more than 25 institutions in Berlin in the field of social work with the aim of enabling people with disabilities to optimally participate in society; These include shared apartments, day-care centers and day-care centers with over 600 employees.
