The Copperbelt University (CBU, literally in German: Copper Belt University ) was founded in 1977 as the Technical University of Zambia and a branch of the University of Zambia and is located on Jambo Drive in Kitwe in Zambia . In 1987 it became an independent institution under the name Copperbelt University .

It has four faculties: business administration , environmental science, forestry and wood management and technology. Diploma and First Degree are offered as degrees. With 4,273 students (2007) it is the second largest university in the country after the University of Zambia in Lusaka , along with other educational institutions in Zambia .

  • Institute of Consultancy and Applied Research, CBU
  • Institute for Environmental Management, CBU

Part of the Copperbelt University is the Center for Lifelong Education , which was founded in 1990. It is a training institution for business and industrial employees in business administration, engineering and mathematics .

  • Fwanyanga Matale Mulikita (1992–1997)
  • Muyunda Mwanalushi (1997-2005)
  • Mutale Mike Musonda (2005-)
