The Corella Reservoir is a reservoir in the northwest of the Australian state of Queensland .

Location and layout

The lake is just south of the Barkly Highway , about 50 km west of Cloncurry . The Corella Creek is dammed there. At the outflow of the lake, it becomes the Corella River .

The Corella reservoir has an area of ​​320 hectares and a storage volume of 15.3 million m³. The mean water depth is 4.8 m. A hole in the dam ensures that the lake never fills up completely.

history

The dam was built in 1959 to receive drinking water for the Mary Kathleen uranium mine .
