The Corpus Christi Caller-Times is a daily and mandatory newspaper in Corpus Christi , Texas .

Corpus Christi has had a newspaper for almost as long as the city has existed. The Caller appeared in 1883, followed by another newspaper called Times . In the late 1920s, both newspapers were merged under the title Caller-Times . The current publishing house was built in 1935 and has been rebuilt and expanded several times since then. In 1995 the newspaper began operating an Internet edition, which was renamed caller.com in 1998 . It has a circulation of 51,000 copies on weekdays and 71,000 on Sundays.

The newspaper, which was owned by Harte-Hanks Communications for many years , was taken over by EW Scripps Company on October 15, 1997 .

In 1939 the newspaper had about 100 employees, today there are 400 full-time or part-time employees at Caller-Times .

The newspaper gained international fame because it first reported on the hunting accident in which the Vice President of the United States , Dick Cheney , was involved. The owner of the ranch where the incident took place on February 11, 2006, called Caller-Times the following morning and informed them of the incident.
