Corsair Marine International is a shipyard for trimarans .

history

Corsair Marine was founded in 1984 in Chula Vista, USA , near San Diego , California . Company director was John T. Walton, the son of Sam Walton, the founder of the department store chain Walmart . Vice President and Designer was Ian Farrier from Australia. Farrier patented a folding system for trimarans in 1975. Farrier designed and built the company's first product, the Corsair F-27, which was first sailed on May 28, 1985. Farrier worked for Corsair until 1991.

In 1994 John Walton sold the company to Paul Koch, who was then the Australian dealer for Corsair Marine. Koch also owned the Australian shipyard OSTAC and had worked with Farrier. Koch brought Farrier back to the company. Farrier worked for Corsair Marine for the next 6 years. When Farrier left the company to form Farrier Marine in 2000 , Corsair Marine acquired all rights to Farrier's F-24, F-28 and F-31 boats. At this time the trademark and sailing mark were changed from Farriers "F-" to Corsair's "C" and the boats were renamed C24, C28 and C31.

Since 2006, the company's headquarters and production facilities have been in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam . In October 2010 the company was taken over by the Australian shipyard Seawind Catamarans.

Over 1700 trimarans have been sold since it was founded. The company has access to a dealer network in six locations in the United States and another 19 worldwide, who sell and service the boats.
