history
The newspaper published in Ajaccio , founded at the end of the Second World War, competed with the Corsican edition of the Marseilles daily Le Provençal during the era of Gaston Defferre .
In 1997, Hachette Filipacchi Médias , a subsidiary of Groupe Lagardère , bought the daily newspaper group around Nice-Matin , to which Corse-Matin also belonged. On the other hand, La Provence , the successor to Le Provençal , belonged to Lagardère at the time of purchase . With two competing daily newspapers under one corporate roof, the merger was inevitable.
In July 1999, La Corse , the Corsican edition of La Provence , was discontinued. The two editorial offices were united under the title Corse-Matin . The newspaper was taken out of the direct ownership of Nice-Matin and added to a newly founded publishing company, SA Corse Presse , in which Nice-Matin and La Provence hold shares . Nice Matin took on the editorial and editorial responsibility, while the printing is done at La Provence in Marseille. With the merger, a weekly newspaper was also created, La Corse Votre Hebdo , which was also printed by La Provence .
In July 2006, the newspaper changed its layout and format and switched to the Berlin format. Since then, it has no longer been printed in Marseille, but in a specially established printing company in Bastia .
In 2006 negotiations began with the La Vie-Le Monde group , among other things the owner of the daily newspaper Le Monde , and on the other hand with Groupe Hersant Média on the sale of the publishing house, which Groupe Hersant finally won. In 2008 the publisher changed hands.
