The Cory Band is one of the oldest and most famous brass bands in the world and was formed in the Rhondda Valley in 1884 . Her goal is to create music that "tingles, moves and confirms life".

History and origin

The Cory Band comes from the Rhondda Valley in Wales . It was founded in 1884 and was originally called "Ton Temperance", a reference to the temperance movement in the South Wales valleys of that time. In 1895, Sir Clifford Cory, chairman of the Cory Brothers, heard the band and offered to provide financial support for them, leading to the band's name being changed to "Cory". In 1920 the band achieved championship status and three years later they were reportedly the first brass band to give a radio performance. The band received a significant honor in 1976 when they were selected to represent Wales and the brass band movement on a tour of the United States as part of the bicentenary celebrations .
