Covansys was an American consulting and IT company. It was founded in Michigan in 1985 and was one of the pioneers in offshoring and outsourcing .
As a global IT service company based in Farmington Hills , Covansys recently had around 8,500 employees, including more than 4,000 in locations in Chennai , Mumbai and Bangalore in India . In 2005, Covansys made a global turnover of 434 million US dollars with a net profit of 37.5 million US dollars.
The CEO of Covansys, Raj Vattikuti, sees Covansys' pioneering role in the global outsourcing market since 1992 in combination with local project management tailored to the market as a great advantage.
The German Covansys subsidiary based in Munich was founded in 1998 and specializes in the industries specialized financial services, manufacturing and telecommunications.
In May 2007 Covansys was bought by Computer Sciences Corporation .
