Crain Communications Inc. is a US media company .

History and products

Founded in Louisville in 1916 , the media company now has 29 media products and is still owned by the founding Crain family. In 1916 the company had three employees; In 2010, Crain employed 890 people in 14 locations in the USA, Europe and Asia. The head office was in Detroit .

The company publishes a wide variety of medical , industrial , and automotive periodicals. These include magazines such as Advertising Age , TelevisionWeek , Modern Healthcare , Automotive News and AutoWeek .

Since 2012, the group has been based in the Crain Communications Building in Chicago, which was renamed as a result of the move .

In Germany, the publisher sells the trade journal Automobilwoche (2014 sales: EUR 6.8 million).
