The Cranfield Aviation Training School is a state-approved correspondence school and commercial aviation school based in the Dortmund Technology Park . The company was founded in 2010 and provides theoretical training for commercial and private pilots . It is the first correspondence school for pilots in Germany, which carries out the correspondence course and the legally required close-up instruction itself and is therefore independent of partner flight schools. The students of the distance school are free to choose the flight school for practical training.

The school is approved as an ATO (Approved Training Organization) according to the requirements for pilot training according to EASA Part-FCL under the approval number DE.ATO.129 by the Federal Aviation Office .

All distance learning courses offered are still accredited by the State Central Agency for Distance Learning .

Company history

The company was founded in 2010 by the businesswoman Mariya Parashkevova and the commercial pilots Stuart E. Smith and André Haufe. On December 1, 2011, the Federal Aviation Office granted approval. Then, the first distance learning course for which was a commercial pilot license - Airline Transport Pilot License ATPL (A) offered.

In 2013, the correspondence courses for the instrument rating - instrument rating IR (A), instrument rating - instrument rating IR (H) and commercial pilot license - commercial pilot license CPL (A) were approved . On October 20, 2014, the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (Federal Aviation Office) granted approval for the Airline Transport Pilot License ATPL (H) / IR for the first time in Germany. Previously, only training for the ATPL-H / VFR was possible in Germany.

Implementation of training

All training courses are offered as modular components. After completing the training, practical flight training can take place at any approved flight school.
