State Central Agency for Distance Learning

The State Central Office for Distance Learning (ZFU) in Cologne is the competent authority for the examination and approval of all distance learning courses that are subject to approval in Germany under the Distance Learning Protection Act .

Other tasks of the ZFU include monitoring and promoting distance learning, advising the federal states on questions relating to distance learning and providing information on distance learning . The ZFU informs interested parties about distance learning and maintains an up-to-date list of approved distance learning courses.

The ZFU is an institution of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and was established by the State Treaty on Distance Learning of February 16, 1978.
