As a cream tea ( English literally means "cream tea", meaning "afternoon snack with cream"), Devon cream tea or Cornish cream tea is in Britain means a small meal consisting of tea , usually with milk, scones , clotted cream and strawberry jam is .

The names Devon cream tea or Cornish cream tea refer to the southwestern English counties of Devon and Cornwall , both centers of the dairy industry and the home of the dairy specialty clotted cream . According to Devonshire style, the warm scones are halved and coated first with clotted cream and then with strawberry jam. In Cornwall, the warm scones or, traditionally known as “Cornish split”, are slightly sweet rolls, first coated with strawberry jam and then with clotted cream.
