Cricket diplomacy

The term cricket diplomacy (English cricket diplomacy ) describes the tentative rapprochement between the divided neighboring states of India and Pakistan after the turn of the millennium . The aim is, in particular, to approach the cashmere issue.

In April 2005, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf attended a cricket match in India and met India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh .

The term is derived from the sport, which is national sport in both countries . Cricket matches were often held during state visits. The common preference is used here (analogous to ping-pong diplomacy ) to relax the atmosphere between the parties so that an understanding can be reached more easily.
