The Crimson Jazz Trio was a British jazz - trio of modern jazz .

The Crimson Jazz Trio was founded in 2004 by drummer Ian Wallace , a former member of the band King Crimson . The idea arose on a tour of the 21st Century Schizoid Band , consisting of ex-members of the band, who reinterpreted their song material from the 1960s and 1970s.

With the aim of transforming the music of the English ProgRock band into the jazz context of the classical piano trio, he formed the Crimson Jazz Trio - also known as "CJ3" - with bassist Tim Landers and pianist Jody Nardone . In 2005 the band released their first album, King Crimson Songbook, Volume One . It includes classic titles from King Crimson as Ladies of the Road (from the time of Wallace in the band), The 21st Century Schizoid Man and Talk to the wind from the album In the Court of the Crimson King , Cat Food from In the Wake of Poseidon and the title Matte Kudasai in an interpretation based on Jaco Pastorius .

The band was working on a second album, King Crimson Songbook, Volume Two , with guest musicians such as Jakko Jakszyk and Mel Collins , Ian Wallace's colleagues in the 21st Century Schizoid Band (Mel Collins was also a King Crimson member) when Wallace was born on May 22nd Died February 2007. The second CD was released in April 2009.
